This free training is provided as part of a research study.

Trauma Free World and the University of Cincinnati are conducting a research study to evaluate how Trauma Competent Caregiver training helps foster parents and kinship caregivers feel more confident caring for kids who have experienced trauma. 

We’re providing free training to 200 active, licensed foster parents or kinship caregivers.

ThE RESEARCH & TRAINING team

The research study will be led by experts from the University of Cincinnati School of Psychology and the training will be provided by the Trauma Free World team of trainers.

Julie Cooper, PhD

Trauma Free World's SVP of Training & Curriculum Development will be the lead trainer for this course. Dr. Cooper has taught trainings all over the world from Bosnia to Mexico, Uganda to the US. She's also a foster and adoptive parent herself.


School of Psychology

Catie Smeyne, M.Ed, a second-year doctoral student in the School Psychology program, will be leading the research effort, along with Carlie Trott, Ph.D., an applied social psychologist and Associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati.
